1. 1-bit music on TS (also digital)

Well, I was testing today this program
http://mister_beep.republika.pl/1bitattack.zip
I found that 2 parts work fully correctly. 4th and 6th (the last one).
It gives me a very interesting intel.
It means that there are several music-programs for Timex Sinclair 2068 needs.
Well, as I said - maybe not FOR TS, but FOR TS's NEEDS.
What I mean is - the music can be written on Timex Computer 2048 or ZX Spectrum. But then it can be easily used on TS2068, without any further converting.
One of the editors is The MusicSynth. http://www.worldofspectrum.org/infoseekid.cgi?id=0008497
This one isn't interesting for me as it's very hard to use, however if anybody's interested, he can learn how to operate the prog and make his own music to use on TS2068.
Another program is SampleTracker, which gives 3 channels of digital sound from TS BEEPER. This editor is pretty easy to use and also it gives sound-results close to outstanding.
To let you know what I mean - today I listenned this song:
http://z80.i-demo.pl/MISTER_BEEP-1_bit_is_enuff.mp3 directly from my TS2068 (MIC port to hi-fi amplifier).
It means, this year I could prepare some demonstration music software especially for TS2068, which is most interesting opportunity for me.
I will conduct further investigation and maybe more TC2048 editors' outcome is possible to use on the 2068 (would be great).
Will keep you informed.
Respect to all,
MB

I'm crossing into unknown territory here, but I think I remember Andrew Owen telling me that any Spectrum program or music that uses the AY chip can be used on the TS2068 just by changing the ports. There's a tutorial somewhere that describes what to look for (and change) in software so that the TS2068 AY chip can use it. Some of the games in the download section of this group were originally Spectrum games and I think one gentleman (Alvin?) single-handedly edited all of them in one go so they would have AY sound. As for 1-bit sound, the TS2068 has no problem using it (a.f.a.i.k.).
So, for someone who knows machine code, it's easy to adapt games, programs, and even music trackers to work on the TS2068 and take advantage of the AY chip. It's supposedly so easy that my idea of having an AY interface for the TS2068, with Spectrum 128K ports, would probably be useless.
Now, if someone has a twister board and wants to try an AY interface on your TS2068, please let me know what happens! There are at least 2 people that I know of that are selling brand new AY interfaces for the Spectrum.
Mr. Beep is more of a Z80, 1-bit musician. But I had to take this opportunity to talk about the AY on the TS2068. It's there, but it's barely used. :)

Well, it should be used as we have pretty powerful CPU (for digital sound, for intstance) but I'm hardly a person to speak about it. ;)
For me Z80 chip is good enough (or actually - better ;) ) than AY chip. :)
Have a nice weekend,

Yes I did. Also you can modify a TS2068 internally so that the AY is addressed by both sets of ports. The Spectrum SE does that. Also SE Basic has a version of the SOUND command that uses both sets of ports at the same time. Anyone writing new software that uses the AY could adapt that routine to support 2068s and 128s at the same time.
