1. CD-ROM for TS computers

I have created what is probably the world's most expensive CD-ROM
drive for my TS computers. I plug an iMic analog to digital converter
into the audio out jack on the TS. The other end plugs into the USB
port on a Macintosh iBook.
The device is meant to rip analog audio sources like LPs and
cassettes into digital files on the Mac.
By recording the program's audio signal into an AIFF file on the Mac,
I can then use the SuperDrive on the Mac to burn the file to a CD-R
in standard CD format as if it were a song.
I can get seven or eight 16K programs on a disc. Each is recorded as
a distinct track on the CD.
Since the TS is looking for input from an analog audio source (i.e. a
cassette deck), I can load the file back into the TS from a standard
portable CD player as long as the volume control on the CD player can
adjust the level on the CD player's line-out jack.
It works like a charm and the whole thing only cost $1200! :-)
I thought the stereo signal from the CD player would cause problems,
but it doesn't. Probably because the output jack on the TS has only
two contacts. The Mac sees it as a mono audio source and records it
to the CD appropriately.
Next, I'm going to try digitizing a program from a cassette (rather
than directly from the TS computer), burning it onto a CD and loading
it into the TS from the CD.
Theoretically, I could convert my entire TS cassette collection into
a CD-ROM library.
I got the idea from the digital cassette deck that Timex Portugal
produced in the late 80's, the TC2010. I figured if the TS2068 could
handle a square wave form from a cassette, why not from a CD?

Hello....
I always believed that something like this could be done. I was wondering
if one could burn cd on a cd rom burner mounded on one's pc by passing the
signal through the sound card. Has anyone attemted that yet?
Thank you
David Solly
