Would someone scan and post this manual please?
Thanks in advance.

I do not have this manual, but Al (from Zebra Systems) has told us before that material from Zebra Systems should not be preserved nor posted online. I don't know if his position has changed or if he would allow an exception. It could be a yes or a no. Either way I respect it....

This sounds more like something Stewart would do than Al.... The manual would certainly be a benefit to some.

Posting something you don't own online isn't preserving it...

If someone posts it, just don't put Zebra's name on it. Zebra doesn't own the manual. It belongs to Timex Portugal.

We were selling them because we were selling the disk system.

If I find mine, I'm going to run copies and sell them on eBay for the cost of duplication, shipping, and a dollar or two for my trouble so I can buy a beer or a burger.

But, it's pretty long, and I'm not going to spend a couple of days running each page front and back through my scanner.

If I had one of those automatic page feed scanners, I'd give it a go.

I really doubt Stewart would do it. I don't even think he still has a copy of the manual he can put his hands on.

He is doing consulting these days, and other than selling off his remaining stock of kits, software, and books... Has no further interest in the old business.

Thanks for the EPROM info, I will get with my tech and let him know what we need to go forward.
Concerning the Zebra stuff, I wasn't aware that there was a moratorium on preservation or posting. Hmmm...imagine that. Perhaps as you say, that position might have changed here in 2012.

Graphic arts / Offset Printing and copying is the profession that I am in, as slow as work has been lately, I would have no problem scanning the pages...redacting the ZEBRA name anywhere it appears, if you like, and make a multipage PDF for anyone here on the yahoo group to reference....while the beer is outside on ice and the burgers are grillin by the pool...my treat, don't forget to bring the manual. Lets work something out.

I completely forgot the manual had been manufactured by Timex, not Zebra. I already obtained full permission from Timex to share anything made by them but unfortunately Timex Portugal, although an arm of Timex Computer in the beginning, did the FDD on their own and became independent. I've never been able to track down someone in Portugal who could give me a similar permission, but I'm sure they wouldn't mind.

I work at Staples and we have very fast scanners with auto-feeder. I wouldn't mind paying for shipping both ways and scanning the entire manual (removing anything that was not by Timex), make a multi-page PDF and share it with everyone. If someone is interested, please get in touch with me. I don't check this group as often as I would like, so it may take me a while to reply.

P.S. If someone was not aware of this permission, it was obtained by me a few years ago. Timex legal has stated that anything pertaining to their former computer business (be it software, hardware or documentation) is now public domain. It was a long shot, but the decision maker was very kind and showed great appreciation for what we do.
