WOW! That's impressive! I've never owned a hard drive for an 8-bit system. I always wanted one for my Atari 8-bit called The Black Box. I met someone at The World of Atari '98 who SWORE by it. I bet a system like this would do wonders for the TS 2068. Then again, just how much software would be going on the hard drive? Is there enough TS 2068 to make this worth it? I know there is a TON of Spectrum software, but the TS 2068 is another story. Wait, what am I thinking?!? Just using the hard drive to program the REAL hardware would be a HUGE improvement.

Why bother using a harddrive? Use a 2GB CF card with the DivIDE interface. Do you think you can use up more capacity than that? There is always the 8GB CF cards :)

By the way : AFAIK The DivIDE interface supports not only harddrives and CF cards, but also with the Demfir firmware it supports CD and DVD-ROM drives.

The DivIDE Plus (and DivIDE) does indeed support both hard-disks (IDE) and Compact Flash cards. Demfir supports CD and DVD ROM drives, but read only.

As I stated, the only issue with getting the DivIDE or DivIDE Plus to work with the TS2068 is the fact that the edge connector is not the same as that in use on the Spectrum nor the Spectrum +3 therefore an adaptor would need to be built (a Twister). We can make some if there is sufficient interest and there is the information on how to build them.

The idea of a custom Firmware for TS2068+DivIDE Plus would be great - allowing you to switch between the operating systems as suggested and in effect (presumably) make the Spectrum compatible ROM card unneccessary. However, is there anyone with sufficient expertise to write this firmware? Perhaps Garry Lancaster, who has written ResiDOS could be approached, although I don't think he has a TS2068 to try !

Okay, that would explain why the TS 2068 isn't listed with on the web page. Still, the software wouldn't be different?

Now I presume that these are not too common - would there be interest in getting some made (and does anyone have a schematic?)

How much does the system cost in U.S. dollars (including shipping)? Bill, how much did you pay? How much might an adapter cable cost?

I don't know exactly because I bought other stuff at the same time (books
for the Sinclair QL and Spectrum and the C-128 software) and shipping was
initially undervalued.

125.50 pounds came out to $256.69
And then 9.00 pounds came out to $18.46 for the extra shipping.

It's not good being on this side of the pond when you want to buy stuff from
over there (I only do it under special circumstances). As you can see,
you're looking at pretty much a 1:2 conversion rate... :-(
