You're music is really great. We enjoy it a lot. Is it available for download so that I could try it on my actual Timex 2068?

Hi there,
sorry for such a long silence, my Yahoo account has died somehow.
Just wanted to let you know that I'm still active with my TIMEX music (and I will never abandon it ;) ).
Also, to my two TC2048 collection, I added lately - AT LAST - the TS2068 and I'm very happy about it. :)

I realize its 1-bit generator is the same as in TC2048 but still it will be fun to make music on it.
When anything's ready - I'll let you know.
Best wishes to all TIMEX users,
Mister Beep

Heh, that's cool. :) Nice to know that also young people get some interest in vintage machines. ;)

Heh, that's true but I can't say anything - that's top secret. ;)
Anyway the Riders are my friends. :)
By the way, as TS has AY, I hope one day somebody could convert SoundTracker from Spectrum48 into TS2068. That's would be most useful.

Many thanks for your kind words.
Well, I have the TS2068 for 2 days actually, but I make some tests. Like somebody wrote on his WWW site - seems like only about 7% of TC2048 soft works on plain TS2068. "8 channels" music-collection doesn't work. "1-bit attack" load and shows all parts but when I press a button to start music, there is only one single note sounding over again. I can hear that it *would* sound OK, as sounding of the engine is OK but entire music doesn't play.
Beeper engines use assembler and there is a problem. I am sure it will work on TS2068 with ZX48 cartridge emulator. Do you have one?
But I will make some further experiments with the plain 2068, too.

Jesus Christ, I don't suppose you could figure out that it's idiotic yahoo which is full of errors? I sent it *once*. But this mail engine is similar rather to steam machine with its precision. That was yesterday.
Also today this sorrowful habit to make safety scripts everywhere, still - they don't ensure *any* safety but instead I have to type CAPTCHA 5 times and this pityful yahoo can't accept it although it was 5 times typed correctly.
And so on, and so one.
Ah, whatever.
Thanks a lot for your hospitality, dude.

In his defense, he doesn't really know how to find his way around Yahoo groups. :) He's been a music composer for many years but always used a TC2048. Now that he's an owner of a TS2068 he's eager to join this community and share things with us but there's a language barrier. I'll be helping him as much as I can. He will probably ask for some of us to test his music on real TS2068 hardware and record the audio output. He told me once that he needs to hear how it sounds so that he can correct it. Emulated sound isn't enough for him. He can notice the subtle differences. :)

He is interested in music in general. He plays the flute, piccolo and baritone sax. He also makes music on the PC. I'm the one that got him into chip music, via the Commodore 64. It didn't hurt that I've listened to electronic music for his entire life and that he was primed for music like that.

Yes, I do. I have hardly used it though. Still, this would give me a great excuse to pull it out and set it up.

As I already stated, I'd be happy to test anything like this on my TS2068. What is the best way to record audio from the 2068?

Well, I don't want to make any trouble so don't bother but in the future if you want to record anything from TS - the MIC port is the one. :)

If I recall, the mic port carries the BEEP command but not the output for the SOUND command. It is available on the edge card connector though. Anyone know where to get a connector for the edge card?

I desoldered a 16-bit ISA slot from an old 486. That works... but I don't think that it's big enough for EVERY line out of that edge-connector.

I haven't used my TS2068 in a long time, but it would be weird if you couldn't get the AY sound out of the TS2068's sound output! And even if the signal was present on the edge connector, I doubt it would be clean. I've heard of video signals on edge connectors, but never audio ones (but I don't know if it's there or not).
Without checking the TS2068 manual or testing this on a real machine I wouldn't know. Can anyone please do a test with a SOUND command and see if it comes out of the ear port?

Yes, I ment the BEEP commands (in short).
But the other info is completelly new for me. \
So TS has no regular sound output from AY?
That's good to know. Probably I would think I got a broken machine, while further tests.

On the TS2068, the edge connector has EAR on pin 2 Top Side and SOUND on pin 31 Top Side. Output on the SOUND is 0 to +5 volt. SPEAKER/TAPE is on pin 2 Bottom Side. If that info is of any value to you.
