Good luck on your test.

And shouldn't you be hitting the books rather than surfing the Internet?

I am finding out that IPv4 subnetting is not easy at all. All the youtube videos and the Cisco textbook as well as my instructors lectures still haven't seemed to clear the fog...finals in one week. Cisco Packet Tracer is a cool tool..Wish me luck!

But surfing the internet is studying for a subnet test!! ;)

Don't worry dude, it's really just a "bar trick" in the end, once you get it you'll see how easy the whole thing really is! I remember having a hard time for the TCP test of my MCSE too, but now it seems so obvious :)

I found the best way to think of this is to translate the masks to single
bits so you see what part of the address space is allowed through. You can
memorize the number of addressable addresses in a particular CIDR if you
work with them enough, but its still easy enough to calculate. Of course,
your test probably covers a lot more detail than this.

Lots of fun. Good luck!

Awesome man!!

You know, I actually need a TS1000/1500 haven't had any luck with them, bought 4 already, all dead, one 1500 I bought was working just fine but the keyboard was bad, changed the membrane, it worked for a couple of days and then died! :( And at 50-80 bucks a pop it gets expensive!

Thank you all for the well wishes. I completed the practice exam and thought it was an exercise in subnetting. Come to find out it was also an exercise in subnetting a subnet...Finals are next Tuesday. This is a four part Cisco course (at 400.00 a pop) to prepare for the CCNA exam which will require even MO-MONEY..lol. But the credit hours (if I pass) will count towards an A.S. to go along with my A.A already attained long ago. peace neil....Oh..by the way, the network guy that kind of helped tutor me last Sunday, I asked him what his very first computer was and guess what his answer was?...You guessed it...the TS1000. LOL I showed him the 2068 with my Larken System attached, he was impressed. I need a carpenter to build little plexiglass cases for several of my non-working 1000's with a label on each that says - In case of emergency Break Glass - to sell em at the flea mkt....later
