1. Looking for 3" drive

I would like to buy a 3" drive, external or internal version. I need
to install it on my PC for disk preservation purposes.
Thanks.

Bruno,
How soon are you looking to get one of these? I have a couple that I
removed from Amstrad word processors years ago, but would need to find
them and that might take a little while.
If you have patience maybe I can hook you up with one.
Take care,
Jack

Hi Jack!
There's no hurry. But if do find one, would it be possible to see one
picture of the back of the drive? I've heard that some of the 3" drives
used by Amstrad can be connected to PCs as 5 1/4 drives, but some can't.
Thanks! Always good to see that you're still around.

I think any can. It is the matter of 26 pin slot mounted a
bit different on the flat cable.
I've connected the same 3.5" drive both to Timex FDD 3000 (in
place of 3" with 34 pins edge slot) and Amstrad CPC (in place
of 3" with 26 pins slot). No changes inside these computers
were made. Only the 3.5" drive was forced to be A: (by default
PC drives are always B: - kind of '83 technology).
I'm not sure for this (as I used the 3" with my PC years ago),
but it should be set in BIOS as 3.5" 720kB. Then I used
CPDREAD.EXE software (taken from Amstrad CPC emulator package)
to read floppies into .DSK files (MV-CPC format).

Hi,
Is it possible to use a Hitachi 3" FDD drive on a ZX Spectrum 128K +3?
Once I copied files to 3" disks some images of bajtek (a polish
magazine about Timex computers) using teledisk and I had to use a 286
because of drive timings.
Because it was a 286 I could select on the primitive bios "180K 5
1/4" drive"
It work well too selecting 360K 5 1/4" drive.
