Hmmmmm! It looks like you may or not remembers an article that had
review and a schematic of the Westington/TS 2050 modem, I can't recalls
what magazine or newsletter that ran the article since it was back in
1985's and I had a photocopy of it but somehow long lost but I have a
copy of a project called Z-SIO card that uses the 8250 UART taken from a
surplus TS2050 modem and it was easy to build project also I have
schematics of Z80 SIO circuit using the Zilog's DUART and a speck of
machine code to read high addresses and it features two serial ports :)
If you happens to remembers the info that have schematics of the modem
that would be great so I can check my modem board completely before I
can put it in good use as well as write a better program for it.

Stephen, check out this URL, I typed up the original article and scanned
the diagram (Actually, I think I took a digital photo of it since I didn't
have my scanner then.)

Ok, ok... So I finally went hunting and found my stash of 2068 and QL
stuff. I knew I had the schematic somewhere, so after about 1/2 hour of
digging I found it!
It's a 4 page affair,
Page 1: a simple discussion on the circuit layout, like a verbal map of
what's where
Page 2: the modem schematic without relay circuitry
Page 3: the relay circuitry
Page 4: the PCB top/bottom
Problem is, my scanner is on the fritz. I'm picking one up this
afternoon and will post these pages later today.
FYI, the schematics were originally done by Zebra Systems.

5. RE: [ts2068] 2050 modem schematics - posted'em!
Senen Racki · Wed, 1 Oct 2003 12:50:
The original schematics weren't so great, so the scan was barely
readable unless I cranked up the dpi, which resulted in large files. I
did my best to balance file size with readability, then created a PDF
from them and posted to the files section of this forum. We only have
20MB to play with in this forum, and the pdf is about 4MB. I don't
think it will be a problem for a long time, as there are only a handful
of files there at the moment. We can always revisit at a later date if
space becomes an issue.

Ok, where can I retieve the file like tell me the link.......
Also I have a suggestion for you -- if you use a graphic manpulation
programsuch as Paint Shop Pro, you could have rescaled the size or you
could have zipped it up to compress the size to smaller size....

Senen Racki · Thu, 2 Oct 2003 22:53:
I tried to form a link to include in my message but couldn't. Use the
Yahoo web interface to access the TS2068 forum, then simply click the
"Files" section in the left menu option. Failing that, let me know if
you have broadband Internet access and I'll pass them on directly to you
as individual e-mails.

Loner,
I've seen this before and I was so lucky to test my modem and it works
very nicely so I'm satifiee that the modem I have is working model after
I replaced the missing LED with a new one :) also I downloaded Smart
Terminal - the orignal version of the program. I also got schematics and
I studied and learned so much info that I learned that the modem is a
very simple and dumb modem that is completely controlled by software so
it only supports pulse dialing -- the old dialing standard and it's done
by software so I studied and learned how pulse dialing works :) I'm
planning to write a enghanced terminal program -- much better than the
original one :)
Thanks for the pointer :)
