1. Need help with my TS2068

This week I started testing my only TS2068 (I sold the others), and I
thought that the only problem it had was the wrong colors. A member of
this group was very kind and explained me how to fix that problem by
adjusting the potentiometers. But now I have a new problem. My TS2068
resets randomly. It could happen a few seconds after power-up, or
while loading, with or without a cartridge, etc. Sometimes it looks
like memory corruption, because some cartridge software may work well
for a few minutes, but after a while the screen gets corrupted, or the
computer resets. Someone on comp.sys.sinclair told me it could be the
power supply. I'm inclined to think that it could be bad memory. Any
suggestions or advice would be appreciated. This is the only TS2068 I
have, and I would like to hold on to it. Could someone please help me?

Kind regards

Bruno Florindo

First, chceck the power slot. Try to move the cable and check if
the reset depends on cable movement.

In case of memory problem, the it would more likely hang than reset.

I noticed a random reset problem when I connected more interfaces.
In some I had to modify the reset circuit to 10kohm resistor and
larger capacitor.

Bruno, sorry to respond so late.

Jarek has a good suggestion to check the power cable. My T/S would
sometimes reset as yours does, and the problem was tarnish on the power
connector at the end of the power cable, especially inside the female
portion. Moving the cable or rotating the connector on the mating pin
would sometimes make a better connection, but what it really needed was
a cleaning. The tarnish does not conduct electricity well.

Find some spray contact cleaner and clean the connector, then use
cleaner on a cotton swab to clean the mating pin on the T/S 2068. I
hope this will help.

No worries. Thank you for your replies. I haven't had time to check it
yet, but a friend offered to check it out for me. Hopefully it will be
something easy to solve. It seems it's becoming harder and harder to
find TS2068's in good shape. Thanks again.
