I hope that what I'm doing today will encourage others to upload and share pictures too, even video clips if possible. These pictures were sent to me by a fellow TS user who told me it was ok to share them with all of you, so here they are - Pictures of the computerfest that took place in Indianapolis back in 1987:

And for those who want to download all the pictures in one go:

I've been told there were several TS computer fests but as far as I know there's almost no record of what happened. No pictures, no recollection of events, no video recordings. One was in Washington D.C. and another one in Oregon and maybe there were more. All this happened before I came to the U.S. so it's a little bit hard to find out what happened. I ask those who have pictures or anything from back in the day to please come forward and help us remember those who supported the Timex Sinclair community for several years. Let's honor them by remembering who they were and what they did. Let's remember a time when people thought it was ok to travel hundreds, sometimes thousands of miles just to gather and enjoy something they had in common.

Unfortunately I'm in the same boat as you are, I came to the US way past the sinclair's time, but I did notice there was a company from NH? I live in Boston, I could try to track them down...

Wow those are great pictures I went to a show in Carrolton MD (must have been the DC one) during the same time period I was 16-17 and I took the Amtrak by myself to get down there.

Yes, the 'fest was actually in Carrolton - a Metro ride from DC. The organizers probably thought "DC" sounded better. There was a picture of the Capital building on the 'fest tee-shirt. I still have the tee-shirt.

Yes, there were several Timex computer fests with the first one in Cincinnati, Ohio, which I believe was in 1986. The next year there was one in Indianapolis, Indiana. In 1988 there was one in Orlando, Florida. After that my mind is a little fuzzy about which one came next. There was one in Washington, DC, or at least it was advertised as Washington, DC. Another one was held in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, in 1990 and still later another one in Cleveland, Ohio. I don't remember the year for the Cleveland fest.

I attended each of these Timex computer fests and couldn't wait for the next one to occur. Some were larger than others and better attended, but all were excellent for talking to other Timex users and learning about new software and getting good deals on hardware. I suppose the best attended ones were the first three held in Ohio, Indiana and Florida. There was one out west that I was unable to attend and another one the northeast part of the country that I also couldn't attend. As I recall, this last one was more for the QL computer instead of the Timex. If there were any others I didn't know about them.

Sometime in the 1990's there was an attempt to combine the Timex fests with the Dayton Computer Fest. I don't remember that first year, but it was very well attended by Timex users. However, the vendor participation dropped off dramatically in subsequent years. The only Timex vender that was there nearly all the time was Carol and Frank Davis with their FWD Computing. I believe a Milwaukee users group named "SMUG" had a table at the Dayton Computer Fest for a few years also.

User groups and vendors shared the floor space in most of these computer fests. My memory is a little unclear on this, but I think there were tables set aside for anyone to sell their used equipment at the Orlando computer fest. Unfortunately, I never took one picture during any of these computer fests. The group that I was associated with, the Timex Special Interest Group of the SouthEastern Michigan Computer Organization (SEMCO), participated in the first computer fest in Cincinnati with a table of demonstration hardware and programs. It was a fantastic two days of seeing what was available for the Timex. As I said earlier, I could hardly wait to see what was new and exciting the next year every year.
