I would like to ask all those who recently received a twister board from me to post, whenever possible, some feedback on how it's working for you and what you were able to do with it. Knowing what the community is working on helps show how active we really are. It also helps the maker of the hardware feel that his work was worth it.
It doesn't have to be right away, but feedback would be appreciated. :)
Some of you already sent feedback via e-mail. Thank you for that.

Sorry, I can't say much about my twister board. I am trying to interface a Timex Disk Drive system to my TS2068. I was told I will need a twister board. I need more parts too. I need 3 inch disks with TOS. I don't know what to call it but I need a "thing" to plug the controller into. I believe that the twister board will plug into my TS2068 and then the "thing" will plug into that and then the controller will plug into the "thing". Pictures of my Timex Disk Drive are on my web site at http://woodworths.com/Timex/Timex.html

If it is a Timex Disk Drive... could it be possible to directly plug it into the TS 2068? Like the thermal printer does; it works in Spectrum and TS 2068. What does the user manual say about the compatibility?

George,
It sounds like you need a Timex Interface. I add a link from my home page (hosted by WoS)...
http://www.worldofspectrum.org/timex/zintface.htm this one is the silver version
Be sure to click on the word "black" to see the black version.
You can only connect the Timex FDD or FDD-3000 directly to TT3000, ZX Spectrum, TC2048, TC2068, UK2086 (and Spectrum clones) but, sadly, not to the TS2068, where, as you mention, a twister is needed.
Jack

The Timex Disk System was designed for the ZX-Spectrum (black interface box) or the TC-20x8 (Timex Portugal) computers (Silver interface box).
The TC series differs from the TS series in that it has a Spectrum compatible bus. So, you will need a twister in order to use it on an American TS-2068.
The difference between the black and silver interface box is the extension ROM contained in it that works with either a ZX-Spectrum or TC/TS-2068 computer.

Better late than never - got the twister board a while back, and it works. By works, I mean that the machine fires up normally. When I plugged in a Divide with memory card into it, the screen showed gibberish. It's possible that the Divide is bad, though the green light shows like it's supposed to.

Thanks for pointing out the difference between the silver and the black twister device, which one is for which?
thanks,

The black interface is for a ZX-Spectrum as I indicated in my post.
The Silver interface is for the TC-2068. The TC machines are very similar to the TS machines, but the expansion connector has a ZX-Spectrum pinout. So, while the ROM in the silver box will work with a TS machine, you still need a twister to make it work.

Thanks Al, I was under the false impression that the interface WAS the twister, i see they're separate animals. My Bad.
Tell me please about the weird 2 pronged plug on the end of the FDD power supply...240 volts a label underneath reads. thanks
