Richard,
You are probably not aware that Jack Dohany of Red Wood City in California did this about 15 years ago. His mod was to install an amended and updated 2068 ROM (he fixed a few bugs and reshaped a few letters) and a Spectrum ROM. One toggled between the two by way of a small switch before power on. He offered a small kit that one installed or he would do it for a small additional fee. I have a 2068 with this mod. If you want to get in touch with Jack I have his address - as of 15 years ago.

I would be interested in contacting that gentleman, but there's no Red
Wood city in CA. Maybe he lives in another state?

I worked in Redwood City, CA, its slightly north of San Jose on the
peninsula, south of San Francisco...
