1. Sinclair spark printer, Ok with TS1000 ?
Francois Lanciault · Mon, 16 Mar 2009 00:07
Hi folks,
If I remember well the Sinclair spark printer (with aluminum paper) is
not working on the TS2068. The problem was that the 2068 was not
supplying the +9v through the bus to power the printer as the zx-81
did. Do I remember correctly ?
My question is: what about the TS1000 and TS1500. Will they work with
the Sinclair spark printer ?
Regards,
François
(P.S.) I already have an alphacom printer, but the zx printer was much
smaller and looks better, And that smell....

Hi there.
I've never tried it, but I saw this on YouTube today:

Hi, thank you for the link, it was fun to watch!
However, the printer is hooked to a ZX81. I was wondering if it would
work with a TS1000 and/or a TS1500. If the expansion connector of the
TS1000 is 100% the same as the ZX81 than I guess it should work.

Of course it works.
You only might need a better power pack as the ZX Printer uses a lot
energy.
If a ZX Printer works on a ZX Spectrum and ZX81, why wouldn't it work
with TS1000 or TS1500? It even works with Timex Computer 2048!

Glad to know it works. I was asking because I know for a fact that it
does not work on an American TS2068. (Lack of 9V supply on the edge
connector)

I think you needed to use an external power pack for the Sinclair
printer when used with the ZX81 but not the ZX Spectrum, and as the
TS2068 also has the same edge connector as the ZX81/TS1000 I expect it
also would need the external power pack to be used.
