1. Sir Clive Sinclair Presentation

Adam Trionfo · Tue, 18 Mar 2008 08:45

I have a subscription to the English magazine Retro Gamer. I read it, as does my fourteen-year-old son Dominic. Yesterday he had to make a presentation for his eighth grade social studies class about someone that he admires. He chose Sir Clive Sinclair! He said that all sorts of classmates chose Bill Gates and Steve Jobs, but he wanted to do someone else. In Retrogamer the writers are ALWAYS talking about "Uncle Clive," so Dominic wanted to learn more about him.

Dominic gave me the presentation here at home the day before yesterday and it was pretty good. I gave him a T/S 1000 for a prop (which I just got a few days earlier on Ebay). Last night I asked Dominic how it went and he said that he got a 100%! I also asked him what the kids thought of the little computer and he said that students thought that $100 was very expensive for it. They compared it to that "One Laptop Per Child" program. So, of course, they didn't get the history of it at all. I wasn't surprised about that. I was surprised to know that his teacher had never heard of the computer and Dominic said that he is about my age (35).
