beasty?

Hello Scott!
Gee, just when I thought the group was dead someone starts writing. Glad
to hear from you.
I am still into T/S 2068 programming. I do most of my programming in
Hisoft Pascal and have published most of my programs and programming efforts
in ZXir QLive Alive!
I use both the Warajevo and the Z80 emulators. I have them both on an old
486 running under DOS 5. It is the only way I can have the emulators and be
able to up and download from tape. I hear that Gerton Lunters latestes
version of the Z80 emulator for Windows will also access programs from tape.
If you have any specific programming issues you would like to discuss, I
would be glad to hear from you.
Cheers
David Solly

How about emulator use?
Anything new these days about the old T/S?
Anybody ever work with the extended video functions for 64 or even 80 column
mode?

Hey David!
Glad to hear from you!
I find it amazing that there is still life in the only 2068's out there. I
must admit that my 2068 (as well as my ZX81) or on display and not used.
They are both fully functional however. I have used the Warajevo emulator
and found it most enjoyable. I recall trying the Lunters Z80 emulator but
having trouble with it.
I programmed quite a lot on the 2068 back in the day, up until about 1987
when I bought an Atari Mega ST 2 with all the trimmings. Unfortunately, my
2068 had been damaged in a rain storm. I have since replaced it with one I
found on eBay.
I also owned a ZX81 that I had purchased as a kit direct from Sinclair back
in '81. It arrived fully assembled however because they were out of the
kits at the time. That computer eventually died from heat, but I have since
purchased a new kit and built it like I had planned to so many years ago.
You can still get the kits from Zebra Electronics for $99!
These days I still program in BASIC, but not on the 2068. {cringe} Sorry.
But I have found a wonderful version of BASIC called Liberty Basic that is
very similar in style to the Sinclair BASIC. It can use line numbers if you
want or it can follow a more structured style. And it only costs $39! The
author of the language is named Carl Gundel and he is the most supportive
programmer I have ever run into. He is on the yahoo groups for the
language, constantly answering questions and helping people with their
programs.
I have five boxes of magazines and books and parts and cassettes for the
Timex/Sinclair computers in case you're looking for anything. I've also got
a T/S 1500 and a 2040 thermal printer in working condition. I'm not
planning on selling anything though (unless you're really desperate for
something). Most things can still be found on eBay. But if you're looking
for a copy of a magazine or an article I've got the Syntax newsletters and
Timex Sinclair User magazines.
The 2068 will always hold a special place in my heart. It was awesome! And
it was way better than the Commodore 64 no matter what the magazines said!
So, what kind of programs do you write in Pascal? And do you have a web
site for ZXir QLive Alive?
-Scott-
