1. Some news and a few questions
zxbruno · Sun, 26 Jul 2009 05:05
How many users on this group are also using other Sinclair computers and clones besides the TS2068?
I, for example, have and am interested in the following:
-Microace
-ZX80
-ZX81
-TS1000
-TS1500
-ZX Spectrum (all models)
-TC2048
-TC2068
The reason why I ask this is because our group was created for TS2068 users, but there's really no main group for people in the U.S. to discuss everything else. I was one of the people who asked Mr. Rich Mellor to create an English forum for those who lost TS1000.us but most of the time the place has no activity. So, please help me with these questions:
Where are all the people from TS1000.us?
Do you know any of them?
Were are the active TS1000 users? Did most of them become TS2068 users and left the TS1000 and TS1500 behind?
Did you know the a gentleman from Littlejohn Systems developed a new expansion board for the TS1000 and that no one showed interested in it, causing him to give up the idea of continuing hardware creation for the TS1000? The couple boards that were made ended up on eBay and I'm waiting for mine now. I was really sad to see what lack of feedback and unfair criticism can cause.
Is it ok to continue uploading all Timex Sinclair material to the group, even if it's not for the TS2068?
I'm successfully scanned the original manual for the Gorilla Banana printer. I'm now in the process of fixing every single page, removing shadows, adjusting angle, etc. before converting it to PDF. I would like to know if there's interest in seeing this manual uploaded.
Right now the son of the editor of Sincware news is selling his dad's items on eBay, item 280375442057.
I wanted to be able to buy these items to continue the preservation effort, but I can't. Is there anyone who would be willing to do so? You don't have to give the items to me. They would be yours and I would only need them for documenting, etc. Some items in that auction appear to be very important and should be preserved. I checked Jack Boatwright's page on WOS where he has a section dedicated to Sincware news. It seems there's a lot of material M.I.A. The auction might or might not have what we're looking for, and his son might or might be willing to answer a few questions. Still, it would be worth a try.
I cease the opportunity to let everyone know that I directed Mr Bob Swoger to this site. According to him he didn't know it existed, and as of yesterday he's been reading and catching up. You might see him posting here soon. Those who have been in the Sinclair zone for many years will remember the name.
That's all for now.

I am interested in all Sinclairs and related equipment. I don't have the space to have them out right now but I own the following: Spectrum 48K, QL, 2068, and PC-8300.
I'm mostly just a lurker here but, speaking purely for myself, I welcome any Sinclair-related material.

I too am interested in all the platforms, it's a small group. So having zx81 or TS1500 related discussions should be a big deal.
Haven't heard any QL news in years ;-)

Good to know. Part of the problem getting these things preserved is having time and money. But since I have a few people who have been helping me it makes everything easier. This is by no means a one man job...
I might have my first QL later this year.
