What ever happened to the Sinclair items that were SUPPOSED to be sold from the gentleman's estate (the fellow that passed away in the Florida industrial accident)?
Did the seller breach his trust to the decedant's wife?

They were not to be sold, they were to be archived. If someone is selling
them then Eric's wishes are not being met.

Really? I can understand if his spouse was willing to keep the
collection. If Eric is the kind soul you speak of, then I'd venture to
guess that he would want to let other Sinclair users benefit despite
his demise.
I've read the following from a previous post.
*I have gotten a call from the widow of the late Eric Johnson, known
*here as Old Man Time, who has asked me to help her inventory Erics
*extensive Timex collection and post the inventory here in hopes that
*anyone interested might obtain something for their collection.
So, either I've read that totally wrong, or Eric has communicated with
the living to make his wishes known that is NOT to be sold or donated.
AFAIK, a list and pictures were posted, and nothing else became of it.
No auctions, no posting of available for sale. Nothing. Its is still
in boxes in somebody's possession. I would also guess the person in
charge of the collection may be busy with other tasks. Whatever the
case is, there has been several queries on the status of the
collection, with no response. Nothing is more frustrating than to ask
a question and not get a valid response.
I had iterated several times that I would like to purchase a complete
floppy drive system from several sources, but there was no response to
that reasonable request. I might as well be talking to a brick wall...

Well Rory, let the brick wall respond to you...
I own a Timex/Sinclair Ts2068 ( modified to work in Timex mode or Spectrum mode with a toggle switch, reset button),
with an Oliger interface mounted in a plexiglass box
and two Floppy drives also mounted in plexiglass boxes.
All with power supply, cables
All in working order.
If you're interested, I live in Canada

That's interesting, as it was implied that these items would be for sale
back from the original posting after the items were sorted and cataloged.
Unless of course we're confusing it with some other big sale that was
supposed to happen but didn't. What does "archived" mean in this case?

Yes, you are absolutely right. I was in email conversation with Eric about
some items. I also get a parcel from him to Europe. The sad part that it
happened after he died.

As always, there is a story ...
Eric's uncle worked for Timex Computer Corporation. When TCC folded Eric,
his uncle and maybe others brought many items that were to be destroyed
away from TCC and stored them. Computers, parts, software, hardware, as
much as they could. Eric has a few one-of-a-kind items, such as 2 clear
plastic-cased TS2068s, a TS1032 RAM Pack to name a couple (there are
pictures of these that Eric uploaded to our site).
These things Eric expressed, to me at least, he hoped would be
safe-guarded, i.e., not disappear into a private collection or be sent to
eBay so that they might be available for historic purposes for the future.
Some of the parts he had can no longer be found (for repair purposes).
Eric and I talked on the phone 2-3 times a year for the past 4 or 5 years,
sometimes we traded parts that we needed for a project. Unfortunately we
lost Eric in an industrial accident.
John Hammer might have a better insight into what Eric was about and what
he had in mind for his items.

Hi,
I'm beginning to see the dilemma that arises. This collection contains
rare and unique hardware items to the history and preservation of TCC.
We just had a Apple II AAAC member pass, so I can understand the issues
in distribution of his collection. However, the A2 peripherals are far
more common than what is here.
I can understand not selling the rare items, to the extent, that the
one with the deepest pockets will stow away into a private collection.
This will only benefit one person and not a group. This has happened to
the Atari 8 bit community and the ICD company sold the remaining stock
of future upgrades to Mike Hohman, who took several peoples money, and
then disappeared. Left a lot of people extremely irate.
There are some of us who have never seen the peripherals you have
mentioned. I'm sure everyone on the TS list here would like to have a
chance to have some of the items on the list. The problem is, not
enough to go around.
Is it possible to get detailed pictures in enough to possible have
somebody reverse engineer the 'rare' items to try and make a clone of
the item? Would there be enough call for such items? I'm all for having
someone try and fabricate replicas. It allows more people to enjoy what
would have been had everything went smoothly at TCC.
The reason I ask, is that people pick up Timex stuff at yard, garage
and estates sales to see what their purchase can do, and when they find
out there isn't any peripherals that work with it, it either goes in a
sale or worse, to the landfill.
I like my TS2068, but it is like having a large boat and trying to row
with a teaspoon.

Eric placed pictures of the items on the Yahoo TS2868 site about a year
before his accident. I believe they are still there.
