1. [SpecDrum] - Information

[CVN].Gitann0 · Thu, 14 Dec 2006 04:08

Hi all,

Browsing the Internet I found some few information about SpecDrum and got very curious about it!
Could someone tell me more about this peripheral and tell me where to get some effects produced by it on a Speccy?

Thanks!

Paulo

Peter,
Do you know if the SpecDrum effects better than the ones produced by the AY chip?

Thanks

Hi Paulo,

I will do for you a quick translate of the content of the Hungarian web
page.
I will ask my friend to do some record for you, because he has one.
Actually, he wrote the short summary on the above mentioned site.

Hi Paulo,

I have no idea about the differences between the AY and the SpecDrum
produced sound quality, but my friends own experience:

"As an amateur musician I got a very good impression during the use of the
SpecDrum. The using of the editor software is easy to use (more or less),
additionally it sounded very well after I hooked to my old Vermona Regent
150 bass amplifier. The foot drum sounded definitely well and on the whole
it produced quite enjoyable sound spectrum. I didn't feel the 'sterile drum
machine like sound' like at the nowadays synth's. It is worthwhile to check
the sound of the Spectaculator emulator for the lack of the real SpecDrum
hardware."

http://www.spectaculator.com/

"The manufacturer was hopeful about the instrument, because the SpecDrum for
30 GBP had the same knowledge like the 200-300 GBP drum machines at that
days and the usage of it was much easier"

Amazing! Amazing!!
I´m really, really impressed!!!
Was that possible to record synth samples from the tape instead of just drum beats?

Paulo
