Subject: [ts2068] SymbOS for Timex?

Hello!

There's a system for Z80CPU based computers called SymbOS.
It supports graphic user interface, mouse, IDE disk, floppy,
CP/M formats and FAT12/FAT16 and some more. It is already
ported to Amstrad CPC, MSX and Amstrad PCW. More info you
can find on http://www.symbos. <http://www.symbos.de> de .

It could be also possible to port the SymbOS to Timex 2068,
but it needs some hardware upgrades, like 512kB memory (RAM)
and IDE (harddisk) or memory card (CF, MMC, SD). These
upgrades could be done in a form of a cartridge.

Would you be interested in upgrading the Timex and using the
SymbOS?

Jarek Adamski

Ps. The SymbOS for Timex could look like this:

Jarek,

Absolutely.

I'm more interested in the IDE/RAM/CF on a cartridge, though.

Hi Jarek,

I've just bought a DivIDE Plus which I understand is compatible with
the TC2048 at least. That takes care of the IDE / CompactFlash side of
things, and if a 512K expansion was available which was compatible
with the Spectrum 128 banking scheme (and maybe the Scorpion 256 or
Pentagon 512 schemes too) I'd certainly buy that.

I want it! Please let us know the cost of hardware
and software.
