Anything is possible, but I even get it a dirty picture on a monitor using
multiple TS 2068's. Certainly the display device is a factor as some are
more sensitive to picking up RF interference than others, but it's
definitely an issue with the system. I finally have an alternative video
capture device that should reliably capture anything with an output, so I'll
see if that makes any difference (or at least can show what a true system(s)
output looks like on my end). It was suggested that the power supply may be
the problem, so I'm wondering if putting extra shielding over that will help
things?

Subject: [ts2068] The bad, noisy, disreputable TS 2068

I was surprised to hear all the bad things being said about the TS
2068 by the "TS 2068 Club". It's like going to the Italian Club and
hearing people saying bad things about Italians (Vinny would throw
them out). Anyway, I scratched my head wondering why I used mine so
long and never had any problems. I then remembered that when I first
got my TS-2068, about 25 years ago (when they were discontinued and
stores were unloading their stock), that it looked terrible when
hooked up to my brand new color television. I hooked it to my
mother's old TV and it looked great. So, I traded TVs with her and
that was that. (except that my brand new TV (hers now) died 2 months
later, I felt guilty but never gave her the old TV back). I still
have that old TV and I hooked my second TS-2068 to it and it still
shows a great picture. Could the TVs be part of the problem? I don't
remember any hissing either. I'm going to go up later and turn it on
and look and listen.

I've tried two TS 2068s now, and I get the same results with each.
I actually have a third computer on the way and I'm curious to know
if that one will be like the previous two.

This is pretty funny. For a split second I thought, "Who's Vinny?" Then
it sprung into my head, "Oh, Gansta Vinny!"

I'm not sure about this. I've never heard of this happen on other consoles,
but it wouldn't surprise me. Also, the computer IS twenty-five years old.
That's why the colors have gone "bad" and have to be adjusted with the
pots. I'm just glad that the pots are there!

My first TS2068, which I bought from an outfit called Games to Learn
By, made a hissing noise that was like the sound of swallowing slush
ice. It also had the color out of alignment so that blue would look
purple. I would adjust the tint and would have to adjust it back for
normal viewing.

I bought a second unit at a computer surplus store, and also got a
spectrum ROM and card that plugged into the rear slot. This unit was
quiet, the color was spot on, and I also found it would load tapes
more reliably.

I still have both units.
