Hi. I don't know if we are allowed to send attachments to the mailing list but I will try. Please let me know if this is something I wasn't supposed to do.
So, I took some photos of the RGB cable I made for my 2068, and the image quality it produces on my TV after all the talk about how terrible the Timex video output quality is. I guess the only way to really obtain a good image out of those buggy beasts is using RGB. Now I would like to remind you, there are resistors on R, G, B and SYNC lines, connected in series. You do not see those in the pictures because they are inside the SCART plug. I decided that was the safest place for them. Without the resistors the image was WAY to bright, probably way outside the acceptable analog-RGB range, and probably pretty harmful for the TV. The edge connector is one I removed from a very old interface that wasn't even a Sinclair related circuit. So I glued two pieces together to make a wider connector that would cover the pins from the little slot on the PCB all the way to the lefthand side of the connector. I also removed the metal pieces from all but necessary pins
in the socket to prevent shorting the connections. It doesn't look very elegant huh. Especially with the thingie I glued on it so that I can pull it out without having to pry the darn thing with a screwdriver. LOL. It would be great if I had an edge connector designed to fit the 2068 expansion port. If you decide to make a cable like this, please keep in mind the following, the 2068 RGB signal is probably TTL level (5V) and the use of resistors is very important. This setup works with my TV but it may (or may not) damage other sets, so do it at your own risk if you decide to experiment with this kind of a setup, and ofcourse, any shorts that may occur between the pins of the edge connector may have catastrophic consequences for your 2068, ie. dead vintage computer. For most people living in the USA, finding a CGA monitor may be a lot easier than finding a TV set with an RGB SCART socket. And people living in Europe, remember that your RGB SCART capable
TV must also support NTSC to work with the US version of the TS 2068.
:)

You are allowed to send attachments. The only thing is that Yahoo changed their policy
a few years ago. Now the attachments are forwarded to people that get the postings
in email. When the postings are online, they do NOT have the attachments.
Your pictures look great. I can't believe how clear the TV picture looks. I like how you
used colors that clashed to give a great example of just how great it is to have an RGB
upgrade.
Adam

I get a daily digest. No images there. I went to the forum web page. No
images there. I suggest you:
1) Upload to the File/Photos section of the forum
2) Upload to a web site and post links
