As some of you may know, I was working on a definitive archive of Timex software to be hosted on World of Spectrum with Infoseek style entries for publisher and year:
http://www.worldofspectrum.org/timex/archive/
Owing to circumstances beyond my control I am not going to be finishing that project. Therefore I've uploaded the software to a new area on this group:
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/ts2068/files/Timex%20Archive/
This is every Timex title I was able to source. It also includes a few new Interface II to Timex cart conversions that, as far as I know, aren't hosted anywhere else.
They are: 'Backgammon', 'Chess', 'Gyruss', 'Horace & The Spiders', 'Hungry Horace', 'Loco Motion', 'Montezuma's Revenge', 'Planetoids', 'Popeye', 'Q*Bert', 'Return of the Jedi - Death Star Battle', 'Shadow of the Unicorn', 'Space Raiders' and 'Star Wars - The Arcade Game'.
Shadow of the Unicorn is the only full 64K cart ever developed as far as I know.
I am told that RWAP Software (www.rwapsoftware.co.uk) may be interested in developing a flash cartridge for the TS2068. The cartridge would contain a full 64K of RAM and could be used to run any of the cartridge titles.

It is pity hear those issues with WOS. Thanks for putting those items here

Hi Mauricio,
You're welocme. I'm over the WoS thing already. Would love to hear if anyone gets any of the new ROM carts burned to EPROM and uses them in real hardware. They could use some further hacking as I've never owned a TS2068 and I didn't know what needed doing to make them use the built-in joystick interface.
Cheers!

Hello tout le monde,
I am a newbie in this forum. If I write badly in english, I am sorry. I am a french canadian, from the St-Hyacinthe, Québec area.
I like the archive great work. I have a TS2068, how do you get from the ZIP /.TAP files to a tape or someway into the TS2068 and run it ?
Thanks for the help, Hopefully my question is not too dumb.

Marcel, ton Anglais est tres bien, ne t'inquiete pas. Desole pour l'absence d'accent, je suis trop paresseux pour figurer comment les faires apparaitrent!
(Marcel, your English is fine, don't worry. Sorry about the lack of accents, I am too lazy to figure out how to get them!)

Hello Marcel, Happy new year!!!
To answer your question....
The zip, well, you just unzip it!! :)
There's an application that can actually play .TAP files as sounds, so if you have your computer's headphone jack connected to the TS2068, you could use it as your "tape recorder". I forget, off the top of my head, the exact name of the app, I have it at home, when I get there I'll upload to the archives, if it's not there already, and let you know...

There is a new utility called PlayTAP, but it's still experimental and I haven't tried it myself. The following file should have what is needed to use it on Linux, Windows, Mac OS X, etc. The Windows version should be under the win32 folder.
http://www.zxprojects.com/images/stories/playtap/playtap-0.1.tar.gz
If the above is complicated for some users, here are some options:
If he's using Windows, he can convert .TAP to .TZX using this:
http://retroisle.com/sinclair/zxspectrum/Utilities/DOS/TAP2TZX.zip
All TZX files can be played through the sound card using this:
ftp://ftp.worldofspectrum.org/pub/sinclair/tools/pc/Playtzx-win32.zip
If using Winamp (I know it's not as popular as it used to be, but still), the .TAP plugin will give Winamp the ability to play .TAP files without having to convert them first:
http://www.winamp.com/plugin/tap-file-player-plugin/9186
Hope that helps.

k7zx is the most effective utility I've discovered for loading programs
directly from your PC to your T/S 2068, from the TAP or TZX formats.
Here is a link <http://personal.auna.com/casariche/k7zx4/k7zx4.htm> ,
if you want to try it out. You can find a great many Spectrum programs
here <http://www.worldofspectrum.org/archive.html> , though only a
small percentage are compatible without a Spectrum emulator
<http://www.timexsinclair.org/peripherals/SpectrumRom/SpectrumEmulatorCa\
rt-Production.jpg> , which I highly recommend (though unfortunately
they are difficult to find these days).

12. Compatibilize ZXSpectrum games for TS2068

Hi All,
Does anyone knows about how to "compatibilize" an spectrum game to became compatible with the TS2068?
ThanksMauricio

You'd have to go through and change all the calls to the Spectrum ROM to the equivalent location in the TS2068 HOME ROM. To do that you'd need to disassemble every program to figure out where the code was and where the data was. It's really much easier to use a Spectrum emulation cartridge.
