1. Keyboard for ts1000

Mark Scheck · Mon, 31 Mar 2008 04:07

Does any one have the project plan for adding a real keyboard to the ts1000?
I also want to build a computer from scratch, I just checked the zx81 kits and they're $200. I would like to do it for under 100 and learn some assembly along the way. Any help would be much appreciated.

3. DivIDE as Multiface

M. Emrah Oral · Sat, 12 Apr 2008 16:55

Hello all. Does anybody know if the original ROM dumps for interfaces like the Multiface 1,2, or 3 can be used as firmware for the DivIDE interface to make the DivIDE act like (or emulate) a Multiface upon generation of a NMI ?

AFAIK, any IDE device can be connected to a DivIDE. So electrically it is possible. The firmware has to support the DVD file system though, which I dont think any of the existing firmwares for DivIDE do.

By the way: any ideas on my original question? Multiface ROM (firmware) on DivIDE ?

 could it be possible ?

6. TS 2068 --> CGA monitor. No BRIGHT ?

M. Emrah Oral · Fri, 18 Apr 2008 05:49

Hello. I made a CGA connector/cable for a friend's 2068. He hooked it up to his old CGA monitor. It works fine. Crystal clear image, but BRIGHT versions of the 8 colors are not displayed. When we look at the composite output, there is a brightness difference between say BRIGHT 1; INK1 and BRIGHT 0; INK 1 .. but no difference when we hook up the CGA monitor. Same for every color. Any ideas ?

Did you use the I (Intensity) pin, too?

I have that pin on the monitor plug but I couldn't find an equivalent on the TS2068 edge connector. ?

I think you need the luminance signal (Y) which is the brightness, but it
doesn't exist on the rear edge connector. You can extract it from the
composite video signal which is the PB31 pin on the rear edge connector. The
R,G,B signals are in TTL level on the rear connector and you also need an
TTL level "I" intensity signal. It needs to create some small circuit to
extract the luminance (brightness) from the standard video signal and also
"digitalize" it to get 5V for the logical high (Bright 1) and 0V for the
logical low (Bright 0).

Peter thanks for the information.
