Does anyone knows if there is some hardware improvement for being able to connect the TS to VGA Monitor?

Thanks

Mauricio

Yes. There isn't. You might be able to get a composite signal out of the SCLD and then send that through a composite to VGA converter, but I only know of such devices for PAL machines, not NTSC ones like the TS2068. And usually the price is steep enough to put you off. You'd be better off using a modern display that supports composite and connecting it directly.

Actually the TS2068 already has composite output, and there are devices as cheap as this: http://cgi.ebay.com/DVD-Composite-S-video-VGA-Monitor-Converter-Adapter-/350405822278?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item5195d08746 to convert composite to VGA.

Has anyone tried one to see if it works?  I use an RGB interface board to connect the TS2068 to a QL Vision monitor, it would be great to see it on a LCD monitor.

It definitely works, I used similar devices in the past, but given the choice I'd use the TS hooked up to a good LCD TV with a composite in ;)

I had a feeling it did, but the only Timex I ever owned was a TC2048. The quality of the image is really dependent on the converter. I'd be particularly interested to see how well hi-res mode is handled going from composite to VGA (essentially doubling the frequency). I had a composite input on the LCD TV I used with the 2048 and the image was really great. I'm actually surprised the monitor doesn't handle composite as my two year old Dell does composite, component, DVI, HDMI, VGA, and DisplayPort.

There is one on eBay right now. Look for CGA to VGA converter. I got one for my +3. Haven't tried in on my TS yet. I have used also the RGB output of my +3 and my 128 to connect to the SCART input of my Sony Bravia. You have to see it to believe it! 50 inches of Sinclair goodness ;-). Of course you have to be in Europe to get a SCART equipped TV or monitor...

Hello everyone,

I purchased a composite to vga converter. No better than using an analogue TV. I am very disappointed in the results. So, I tried hooking the 2068 to a TV with a composite-in connector - works great. Don't waste your money on the converter. Just get an LCD TV and connect directly. Hope this helps.

Paul

Thank you very much for the update, Paul.  I had been looking around for such a converter, but now I'll skip that step altogether and shop for a small LCD TV.
