As promised long ago, and thanks to a good friend here in California, TS1000 and TS1500 users can now make their own TS1510 and their own cartridges if wanted.

http://www.rwapservices.co.uk/ZX80_ZX81/forums/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=192&p=1371

I wanted to have cartridge files to share with you, but I lost the auction to the 4 that I saw on eBay this week. If someone out there has the cartridges and has a good heart, please consider letting us have them for a few weeks so that we can preserve them in digital format. It's a long shot, but maybe someone will read this and have a reaction other than 'No one is touching my cartridges!' or 'I can't be bothered'. I would even pay for shipping both ways... Yeah, I'm willing to do that for the community.

Hi Bruno,

As I might have mentioned to you previously, I have an uncased TS1510 cart reader as well as one cart for it: "Supermath". You are welcome to borrow and copy this cart if you don't already have this one. I also have three carts for the 2068: "States and Capitals", "Flight Simulator", and "Pinball". If you're interested in 2068 carts you are welcome to borrow these as well. Let me know.

Is the 1510 a rare item? I haven't been keeping up. I might sell the uncased one I have.

The other quite rare TS1000 item I have is an eprom reader, plugs into the edge connector, that was dedicated to running a looped program as a static store display demo-ing the many things one could do with the TS1000. I recently ran it and found the eprom must have been hit by a stray cosmic ray as the basic program is corrupted. The program lists but is quite long with many machine code calls and I can't see where it fails. Could be just one character. The eprom is socketed so the reader could potentially run any application. Has interesting potential.

Hi Rod! :)

Thank you!!! Supermath definitely needs to be preserved. My friend had Flight Simulator too but the cartridge appears to be damaged. According to Jack Boatwright only 4 cartridges were released for the TS1510. After preserving Super Math we would be 50% done! The other two that we're missing are Chess and Flight Simulator.

As for the TS2068 files I believe we already preserved most of them, but I'm going to check the list of .DCK files just to make sure and I'll let you know via e-mail. This reminds me that I must upload those .DCKs to the group along with all the stuff that I received from Spain two months ago (more .DKCs and some documentation that still needs to be scanned).

Thanks in advance.

Hello!
I have a "flight Simulator" cartridge for a TS2068, it is grey with a crude (by today's standards) cover graphic, and with an even cruder on-screen graphic.  Is it what you are looking for?

Hi.
Thanks for offering to help. If that particular cartridge is black then it's for the TS2068 and it was already preserved. If it's dark grey it's for the TS1510 cartridge player and it's the one I'm looking for. :)

To see how different they look, take a look at this old eBay auction:

Hi. Do you live near him, or is it an online contact?
Just to make sure, we're talking about TS1510 dark grey cartridges, not the TS2068 black ones.
Unfortunately copying cartridges isn't something anyone can do. You need an eprom reader. :) Both my friend here in California and the one in Spain have the equipment to do so, and contrary to popular belief the cartridge doesn't need to be damaged in the process.

So, unless the owner of the cartridges is willing to lend them to me, the only other way is if he dumps the cartridge content to an hex file himself.

I'm waiting for a couple replies from people who have contacted me via e-mail and will let you know if it's worth trying contacting that person again. But I've learned that people who don't know me have difficulty trusting me with something like this, which is perfectly understandable.

Rod has kindly offered to send me the Supermath cartridge. This means that I still need Flight Simulator and Chess, both dark grey cartridges.

Meanwhile, if someone has all these cartridges and is willing to scan the cartridge picture, box (both sides) and instructions it would be great too. Everything should be preserved while we can.

The files will take a long time to upload to the group, but if someone wants the zip file (aprox. 5MB in size) please e-mail me. I'm in the process of uploading it to megaupload too (yeah, I don't have a decent host).

Here it is. The zip file includes all the pictures, schematics and documentation related to the work done by my friend. This wouldn't be possible without his help and without the help of someone who helped me obtain a TS1510 after so many years. Thank you! You know who you are.

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=BZSSUQCN

P.S. At some point all this Timex documentation and files will be properly organized in the World of Spectrum. The archive is in the making right now...

Here it is. The zip file includes all the pictures, schematics and documentation related to the work done by my friend. This wouldn't be possible without his help and without the help of someone who helped me obtain a TS1510 after so many years. Thank you! You know who you are.

P.S. At some point all this Timex documentation and files will be properly organized in the World of Spectrum. The archive is in the making right now...

Don Dindang · Wed, 22 Jul 2009 12:53

there is schematic and picture in the zip file that Bruno upload.
the basic thing is just wiring from cartridge to match with 2764 eprom pin configuration.

Or see how to do it here:

http://www.fruitcake.plus.com/Sinclair/Interface2/Interface2_RC_Reading.htm

the link above is for zx spectrum cartridge, the idea is the same for ts1510 cartridge.
