1. TS2068 Power supply & Rom Switch
rjburt56 · 30 Jan 2014 13:16:14 -
Hi to all.
Thanks to all that helped me with a power supply, I was able to get an almost identical one from Jameco Electronics, part number 2167525 output is 15VDC / 1A, no load voltage is 20.5VDC, price is US$10.25, I had to change the polarity on the on the end plug, so purchased a new plug, part number 2145115, price is US$0.89 and soldered in to the wires, looks just like the original.
I remember back in the heyday of the TS2068 there was a device, that you could switch between the 2068 & a ZX spectrum, called a ROM Switch, I can't recall who made this item, I know that I had one, as I think about it there was a little magnet slide switch on the top of the case, and a little board inside that you could switch between the two ROMs. What ever happened to it? Is there anyway to make one? I have a few spectrum programs that I have not used in years, and would like to try them again.
Thanks again for the help.
Richard

Richard,
After looking around a while for what you are talking about (with the ROM switch) I ended up doing the "Richard Atkinson mod" which allows you to switch between the Timex ROM and Spectrum ROM by way of replacing the ROMs with two Eproms. It works really well.
If you look over in the other thread, I have posted where you can get the eproms from (in Canada). You have to modify the board slightly which Richard outlines with photos and monolog on his blog.

To make it simpler for me, I did not remove any components other than the two ROM chips and two jumpers on the board. Rather I added a small switch on the inside of the case to switch between Timex and Spectrum. If you would like more details (or photos) on what I did just let me know.
