What do I think ? I think I want to buy one. You have
one for sale ? Can I plug in a Spectrum 48 ROM chip
(HITACHI 16k ROM) if I solder a socket on it ?

2. Universal Memory Cartridge Board

Hello!

Some hours ago I've designed a board that could be
used to make memory cartridges for TS2068.

Dimensions 48mm × 48mm are taken from original board
used in Spectrum Emulator for Timex Computer 2068.
I've added a round hole (10mm) to give a change to
remove the board when no cartridge case is used.

However, I found two problems with insertion into
TS2068: the cartridge slot has limited hight and
it could be hard to remove the 48mm board from the
cased slot. So, to locate the memory chip outside
the limiter, I added a 30mm lengthener. It can be
cuted out, giving a 48mm × 48mm board. In this case
a female slot can be mouted on the cuted part,
giving a free lengthener or cartridge splitter.

Please see the board project under this link:
http://8bit.yarek.pl/interface/ts.cartridge/umcb-001.png

The horizontal dashed line splits the main part from
the lengthener.

To see a list of possible memory configuractions,
please look at:

What do think about it?

I give some time to this project as some good ideas can
arrive. For example I've added a reset button in place
of the hole on board.

I'm going to order the boards in June, so I should have
them in second half of June. I have some more boards
to finish first (e.g. 512kB internal upgrade for TS2068).

Yes, in default configuration you will have it in Dock
back and runable with OUT 244,3.

BTW I don't know how in TS2068, but in TC2048 and TC2048
the Spectrum ROM placed in Home bank will not work
correctly, as these two computers need initialization of
255 port that isn't done by Spectrum ROM. TS2068 may work,
however.

Hello!

I got the UMCB boards today. They look OK.
I must make some cartridges to test them,
but don't expect problems.

I've created a form and I hope it works
correctly. In case of problems please contact
me.
 http://zxq.yarek.pl/h/?h=umcb

The prices shown are approximated.
The P&P price for small pieces below 100g
is 4 PLN in Poland, 2 EUR (3 USD) outside.

The cartridge boards can be used as:
 - 16kB/32kB/64kB ROM in Dock,
 - 16kB/32kB/64kB RAM in Dock,
 - 32kB RAM + 32kB ROM in Dock,
 - 16kB ROM in Home for TC2068.

In other words as AROS, LROS, Spectrum Emulator,
Dock RAM and CPM22QED. The CPM22QED requires
a disk interface, floppy or IDE.

Any comments are welcome.
