I just opened the package for my Spectrum emulator cartridge made by Jarek Adamski. I don't have time to play with it now, but I WILL play with it on Saturday. What Spectrum game should I try first. And, PLEASE, recommend a game that doesn't take a half hour to load!

I'd be curious if yours goes properly into Spectrum mode first and foremost.
I've had problems with mine using the standard Out command.

Mine works fine with the standard out command.

Adam: A top 100 Spectrum games list is at <http://www.worldofspectrum.org/bestgames.html

I'd suggest having a look at Starquake or Hyper Sports, to start with.
Bomb Jack is popular too.

No 48k Spectrum game takes more thank 5 minutes or so to load from
tape, this isn't a Commodore 64 ;)

I just checked it, and it works for me. After I type OUT 244,3 the computer
does a soft reboot and comes up in Spectrum mode. At least it appears to.
I have not tried a Spectrum game with it yet, but I expect it to work. Is there
a quick test to see if I'm in Spectrum mode?

The only trouble I had was trying to remember how to get the OUT command,
which requires quite a bit of keystrokes.

Quickest test : Startup screen reads (C) 1982 Sinclair research ltd and no Timex copyright line.

I think I've decided that the first game that I'm going to play with my Spectrum emulator cartridge on the T/S 2068 is "Manic Minor." It's sort of a cop out, as this may well be one of the best known Spectrum games... but isn't that reason enough to play it? I've played MANY versions of this game, but I've never played the original on original hardware (or, well, CLOSE to original hardware). I have played this game in a Spectrum emulator, but pressing the keyboard buttons to move around just, well, seems neat (and old school!).

Adam, that's a great choice. When you get tired of it
(if ever) try Enduro Racer!

Manic Miner is a sure bet. Another fun one is Frogger and also Back2Skool.

I'm writing all of these games down. Keep suggesting some good games.

I DID check out the top 100 list over at WOS. That's a LOT of games to try!

13. What Game Should I Try First With Spectrum Cartridge? + 128K Sound

M. Emrah Oral · Sat, 29 Mar 2008 04:00

Some of my favorite ZX Spectrum games are :

Atic Atac
Cauldron 1 & 2
Manic Miner
Antiriad
Stop The Express
Dan Dare
Gun Fright
Exolon

too bad you can't hear the AY sound FX and tunes on a 2068 on games like Exolon. :( I wonder if there might be a way to redirect the Spectrum AY sound on the Specrum games to the 2068's AY Chip

Also I'm running FUSE on windows 7 and the window is really small anyway to make it bigger?
Thanks Mark

I think you didn't get any replies because you were posting in another topic. :)

For TS2068 software you have to check the file section right here in the group. There's a Timex archive in the making at the World of Spectrum website but it's still work in progress and doesn't have a page to visit yet. Every time one of us finds software specifically for the TS2068 we preserve it and upload it to the group.
You also have Paulo Leite's TS2068 website. Sort the messages by date and you'll find the url to his website. He posted it here a few weeks ago.
In Fuse you have to drag the bottom-right corner. At first it doesn't appear to do anything, but if you keep dragging it will switch to a 200% size display.
