I used to own several issues of the magazine "Interface Age."  One of the issues, from about 1979 or 1980, had a flexable record in it.  It was a program for the Apple II (the listing was also in the magazine).  When I got the magazine it was about fifteen years old and the record was still in there.  These "flexi discs" (I think that was the term) used to be a pretty common giveaway in the 1970's-- though it was MUSIC, not computer programs, that were on the records.

I have one of those vinyl records, the Pete Shelley XL1. But until I
get a replacement needle for my turntable I won't be able to preserve
the software as .tzx.
