1. Yamaha Sound from Speaker or TV

I'm "new" the the T/S 2068, or mostly so. The sound from the internal speaker, the "beeper" can't come through the TV right? The Yamaha chip... is the only way to get sound from it from the speaker-- or can you get it through RF somehow.

Speaking of RF, I have to turn my TV speaker all the way down otherwise I hear a loud "hiss."

Hi Adam,
I'm sorry, no sound from TV. You must set the volume level to minimum.
I recommend that you use the composite video output to achieve a better picture.
Eduardo.

Ah, that's disappointing. Is there a way to adjust the volume of the internal speaker (maybe via a POKE?), or would I need to add hardware to the computer to do that? When my friend and I were playing games the other night on the 2068, we wondered how kids were able to play games when they should have been sleeping. My friend's theory: perhaps kids used a dish towel to somehow "mute" the speaker a little bit.

The 2068's picture with RF is acceptable to me. The composite output on the 2068 is notorious for color/pixel crawl. I tried it already, and honestly, there isn't much difference between the RF and the composite on the 2068. Sure, the composite output is a little cleaner, but the pixels start to look like they're going to eat they're way through my TV's tube. Yikes!

I tried to upgrade my first 2068 to have a cleaner picture back in 2008-ish. I failed. Now I'd rather have a slightly-blurry picture than no picture at all. I may open up my unit this coming week to adjust the pot to get the colors a bit more correct.

RGB on the TS2068 is great if you have an RGB monitor. The mod is dead simple. I can post the schematic if you want it.

I don't have an RGB monitor, but, please, post the schematic. I remember seeing this schematic posted before (perhaps by you?), but I've since lost track of it. Digital RGB monitors are rare. I wish I still had the one I used to use with my Commodore 128-- the difference it made was amazing.

I've attached the schematic for the RGB TTL interface as well as a copy of an article about cleaning up the 2068 video. Everyone should give a "thank you" to Gary, William and Tim for the original articles. I met Gary at one of the TS Computerfests and Tim did some mods for me back in the day. Good people. My user 2068 has the RGB mod, I think it's this one, and I connect to a Sinclair QL monitor for an absolutely rock steady perfect video.

The 78L12 mod can be complemented with the 7805 mod (https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/ts2068/files/2068%20Video%20mod/) to get a good composite video signal.
The interface you posted is an interface RGB ttl to monochrome.TTL
If you have a QL monitor I think you have a color interface like the listed below
On https://xa.yimg.com/df/ts2068/ts2068+rgb+interface.pdf?token=o2OYhzOsROIWXBqa588tWrotjMNRlyoeizKcenI_QVJJ3c8Hy1CHZIbxTrQAJ6WPfjS5WCaKhoyoXEmJB73YRgcM0nxQFcRlsJ_J_5cTTxaNu8Y_O0s1-E3Vfg&type=download there is a good one published by kmitl22
On https://xa.yimg.com/df/ts2068/rgb+adapters.PDF?token=udVqbfQbKtypz28E7iHkLnTGPSuI9TxfV4F-W_stRGSyrt-eZNGSzPQptr8wEugGO9nBSMMmwm0aoekgm-Lq7V8SNTlrpMKXii3-VKGL4Scq&type=download there are others.
