1. Zebra OS-64 Cartridge

Al Hartman · Thu, 12 Nov 2015 22:07

I found the power supply for my 2068 a little while ago.

I tested both of the cartridge boards I built up. They work fine with OS-64.
Tomorrow, I'll burn a Spectrum ROM and try that out.

I bought one of Don's Twister boards. It's pretty nice. Go get one on eBay
if you need one. It includes a Spectrum Emulator, so you won't need one of
these cartridges. I just checked, Don doesn't have any listed currently.

But, I'm sure he'll have more listed soon.

I have to find my Interface One and Wafer drive. And somewhere here is my
NTSC Spectrum.

I'm going to make up OS-64 manuals on Monday, so if you want an OS-64
Cartridge - I'll have them next week.

Bare boards and parts kits are available now. You can of course order boards
yourself from OSHPark, but you'd have to order three at a time. I can sell
single boards.

Is it possible to patch the Spectrum ROM image to work in the dock and burn it to an EPROM?

Yup, mine is a prototype of an American Spectrum that came from Timex. They
were never produced due to FCC rules.

Don's Twisters include a Spectrum ROM. The one's we sold at Zebra did not,
because they were meant to be used with our disk system which didn't need a
Spectrum ROM to operate.

But any emulation from dock cartridge is not enough to run a DivMMC for
example. In my case I just replaced the internal ROM and works fine.

Al, this american spectrum prototype ? Does it include dock cartridges ?
Does this rom have anything special ?

They actually DO work. We sold them at Zebra Systems.

No, a Spectrum has no cartridge port. It is a 48k Spectrum with an NTSC RF
Modulator. Otherwise the same as a UK 48k Spectrum.
