After 30 years, my 2068 still works, just used it last night. I works
better than I do! BTW I bought it over all the others because I didn't have
to worry about spelling or memorize any commands.

Wikipedia has November 1983 as the release month/year, does anyone know
what day they were first available?

Here in the UK there are two parties being held to celebrate the Spectrum's
birthday, the first of which is this weekend at the BFI on London's south
bank.

In conjunction with this, Imperica is hosting a Q&A session with Rick
Dickinson, the designer of the ZX Spectrum. On their page about this, they
have a picture of a very TS2068-looking ZX82. It's a cross between a ZX81
(TS1000) and a ZX Spectrum, and in some ways it looks more like the
TS2068/TC2068/TC2048 (especially the final one) than the ZX Spectrum itself
does. This is interesting because the prototype would have been done some
time between March 1981 (when the ZX81 was released) and April 1982 (when
the ZX Spectrum was released), long before the release of the TS2068.
