Keeping an eye on the development of an incredible system being
developed in Britain, called a ZXpand. So far, it's being developed for
the ZX81, but if it can be developed for that, then maybe we could
eventually see one for the Spectrum/Timex Sinclair 2068. Here
<http://www.rwapservices.co.uk/ZX80_ZX81/forums/zx-mmc2-update-log-t329.\
html> is the thread tracking the development of the device. I'm on
the email waiting list for once the fellow finally finishes and sells it
(though he isn't certain whether or not it would work on a T/S 1500).
Here is a video

of what the thing is capable of doing.

WOW, that's awesome!!
But more intigring then the hardware itself is the "Dan's revenge" game.
How the hell they got those graphics out of a ZX81?

Haven't watched the video, but high resolution games on the ZX81/TS1000/TS1500 isn't anything new. The rwap software website has a ZX81 page with several titles available for download. There are several high-resolution games that can run without any special graphics interface.
About the ZXpand, the prototype is now on sale on eBay:

Yeah, I remember having several hi-res games for my ZX-81 towards the end of it's commercial life cycle.
I also remember a few games that were "color"!! ;+))
It was actually some washed out false colors that could be generated by putting an orange acetate film over your b&w tv screen and the game in question would then flicker it's display at various rates to appear to have diff colors (limited possibilities and were kinda washed out colors but he!, color at all was amazing for it!)
I als remember having a stringy floppy for my ZX-81 (went thru an interface board and made loading programs SOOO much easier as
1 - was much faster
2 - could put many games on the same tape and it kept track of where on the tape each program was (had a utility to reindex start locations if tape stretched as well)
I used my ZX-81 as my primary computer well into the Commodore 128 days (so well past C64 era heyday). Tho eventually I broke down and upgraded to a C128.
Years later my sis wanted to learn about computers so I let her use my ZX-81 setup. Several years later she had moved several times and found out she had lost it in one of the moves! I was so mad! As by that time I had started collecting computers and game consoles, so I never let her borrow anything of mine again. The really weird part is the interface board that was sold to make this stringy floppy work was made by a hobbyist in State College, PA, the town my sis lost the ZX-81 in!!
Nowadays I never see one of these stringy floppies offered for a ZX-81 nor see it mentioned on any ZX-81 internet sites. So might have been worth something due to rarity! Definitely would have been worth something to me!
